Sequare D 40 Amp 4-Pole AC Contactor with Double Mechanical Interlock - Durable & Reliable for Heavy Duty Use

1. Electrical Ratings

  • Rated Operational Current (Ie):
    • AC-3 (Inductive Load / Motor Control): 40A (typically rated up to 440V).
    • AC-1 (Resistive Load / Heating & Distribution): 60A (some models up to 63A).
  • Rated Operational Voltage (Ue): Up to 690V AC (50/60 Hz).
  • Rated Insulation Voltage (Ui):
    • 600V (per CSA standards).
    • 690V (per IEC 60947-4-1 standards).
  • Number of Poles: 4P (Commonly 4NO; 2NO+2NC configurations available).
  • Motor Power Rating (under AC-3):
    • 220V/230V: 11 kW (approx. 15 HP).
    • 380V/400V: 18.5 kW (approx. 25 HP).
    • 440V: 22 kW (approx. 30 HP).

2. Control Circuit (Coil) Specifications

  • Control Voltage (Uc): Available in 24V, 110V, 120V, 220V, 230V, 240V, 440V AC.
  • Coil Power Consumption:
    • Inrush: 140–160 VA.
    • Hold (Sealed): 13–15 VA.
  • Operating Time:
    • Closing: 12–22 ms.
    • Opening: 4–19 ms.

3. Interlock Mechanism Characteristics

The "Double Interlock" feature provides two layers of safety:

  • Mechanical Interlock:
    • Physical lockout using a mechanical linkage (e.g., LAD4CM) to prevent both contactors from closing simultaneously.
    • Dead Time: Integrated delay of approx. 40ms to prevent phase-to-phase short circuits during rapid switching.
  • Electrical Interlock:
    • Achieved via cross-wiring the Normally Closed (NC) auxiliary contacts to ensure that when one coil is energized, the circuit for the second coil is physically broken.

4. Auxiliary Contact Specifications

  • Configuration: Usually 1NO (Normally Open) + 1NC (Normally Closed) per contactor.
  • Conventional Free Air Thermal Current (Ith): 10A.
  • Minimum Switching Capacity: 17V / 5mA.

5. Environmental Specifications

  • Ambient Operating Temperature: -5°C to +60°C (derating required outside this range).
  • Operating Altitude: Up to 3000m without derating.
  • Shock/Vibration Resistance: Compliant with IEC 60068 standards.
